We aim to make Rainbows Nursery School accessible and inclusive to every child in the local community.

We take children from the age of 3 months.

We offer children a minimum of two sessions each week which can be increased as and when it is appropriate for each individual child and their family, and when spaces are available.

We invite you to come and look around the Nursery at any time, and new children are always invited to come for one or two trial mornings with their parent or carer to familiarise themselves with the staff, the building and the other children.

What happens when my child joins Rainbows Nursery School?

We invite you and your child for an appointment to have a look around the Nursery (even if you have been before). At this appointment, you will be able to ask any questions you wish, in order to make sure you are totally happy with the service we are able to provide. We will answer them honestly and to the best of our ability.

At this interview, you will also be asked to complete, with a member of staff, an All about Me form, which will give us a good idea of what your child is capable of at home. Often children show different capabilities in different situations. There are no right or wrong answers and it helps us greatly if you can be as honest as possible. You will also be given various documents with information about the Nursery, to read at your leisure. If you have any queries with the information received, please speak to a member of staff.

What do I need to bring for my children for their day at nursery?

Please make sure your child has plenty of spare clothes, this includes nappies and wipes. Throughout the nursery we encourage sensory and messy play which means the children also get messy! Please take into account if your child is toilet training too. Feel free to bring along any comforters you feel will help your child to settle and feel at home. Finally, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately each day according to the weather. This includes wellington boots, hat, scarves, gloves and a coat for winter and a sun hat and sun cream for summer. Please make sure all items of clothing are named.

What is tapestry?

In the Nursery, we use an online learning journal, using educational software called ‘Tapestry’ which records your child’s unique learning journey. By logging on with a secure username and password you will be able to view all of your child’s observations, photographs and even video from their time at preschool and the nursery in the Early Years Foundation Stage.  This will enable you to follow your child’s individual progress closely and reflect upon their achievements. We encourage home learning and therefore asked that parents add comments so that their key person can find out about which activities your child enjoyed at preschool and their learning at home.

All of this information is stored on a highly secure server which is monitored closely.

We would ask you to speak with the Manager first, or if you prefer, to complete a feedback form. If it is a complaint or query, it will be taken seriously and fully investigated. We will then report back to you and agree what further action needs to be taken, if any. If you are still unhappy, or feel unable to speak to a member of staff, you may contact either Ofsted (03000 123 1231).If it is a commendation, the appropriate member of staff will be informed
